John Sprakes ROI is currently exhibiting work at the Mall Galleries in London and showcases a cross-section of his recent paintings.
Many of the images have been inspired by the landscape along Hadrian’s Wall, Northumberland. This stretch of dramatic landscape starts at Wallsend in Newcastle to Bo’ness on the Cumbrian coast. The Norfolk and Suffolk coast has also been a source of inspiration to John and features prominently.
There are also a number of the Still Lifes which John has painted in various interiors.
“Drawing is important in my investigation into the seen and natural world. It is a starting point for my ideas.”
The exhibition runs from 6-11 March 2017 (10am-5pm) and admission is free. There is also a private view event on Tuesday 7th March (5-8pm).
