The friends of the ROI program will offer you the opportunity to keep up-to-date with the Institute via newsletters, painting days and ROI master classes held around the country. As a friend you will be supporting the society in its remit to encourage and promote the oil medium within the field of contemporary art. There is an annual subscription of £30. ROI Friends events 2019 – let’s get together!
Thursday 9th May and Saturday 11th May 2019
At Linda’s studio in Old Isleworth, Middlesex. Directions will be provided. STILL LIFE PAINTING IN OIL This is a wonderful opportunity to paint with Linda and learn some new methods. Canvas, paints, all materials, lunch and refreshments are included.This workshop is exclusively for ROI friends and as there are only five places to study with Linda on each day places must be booked in advance and will fill up quickly so don’t delay.
Please email Linda to book your place. This exclusive workshop includes all materials, lunch, refreshments and Linda’s tuition, and there will be a voluntary contribution asked of £30 to go to the Artists Benevolent Fund.
Plein air and BBQ day with Roger Dellar ROI
There will be a plein air landscape painting day exclusively for ROI members and friends at the Devils Punchbowl /Hindhead Common in Surrey on Friday 10th May. 10.00 am – 4.00pm. The sociable painting day will be followed by a BBQ at Roger’s studio, kindly hosted by Roger and his wife Lyn. A small charge of £5 a head will be payable on the day. Painting workshop at Morston Quay, Norfolk
Sunday July 7th 10am till 4pm.
The ROI and IEA are joining together again this year to run a painting day at Morston on the North Norfolk Coast. Morston is a small village on the North Norfolk Coast west of Blakeney. Haidee-Jo-Summers ROI, Brian Ryder ROI IEA, Graham Webber ROI IEA, Bob Brandt IEA , Mo Teeuw IEA and Jane Hodgson will all be on hand throughout the day to offer help and tuition.
David Curtis ROI will be painting a demonstration of a chosen scene on location during the day. It is hoped to auction his painting at the end of his demonstration.
All tutors are Council members of either the ROI or IEA and will be giving their services for the day free of charge, all proceeds will be divided between the two Institutes. Booking in advance is essential and early booking is recommended.
Places are limited to 30. Meet at the National Trust Building on the Quayside at 9.30am. Car Parking is available on location but subject to charge. Food and drinks are available from the NT building and there is a village pub within close walking distance or bring your own.
A village hall has been made available if weather is inclement. Cost for Friends of the ROI £45 for the day.

Plein air painting workshop with John Walsom ROI
Saturday 5th October, St James’s Park, London
Experienced plein air painter John will start the day with a demo and then be on hand to offer advice as you paint your own work. You will meet at the Cafe in the park, Benugo, at 10.00 am and finish at approximately 4.00 pm.
Please bring your own plein air easel and painting supplies. Refreshments can be purchased from the Cafe or you may choose to bring your own of course. Places are limited to 12 friends of the ROI, and a small charge of £12.32 is payable on booking a place.
