The date fast approaches for this year’s Royal Institute of Oil Painters Annual Exhibition which once again showcases the work of many of the UK’s most exciting young painters alongside the work of more established names. It is an opportunity to gauge the continued evolution of oil painting in this country and to see how it is a fundamental and vital part of the wider art world.
After last year’s successful introduction of ‘an exhibition within an exhibition’, the 2019 show will include a mini exhibition on the theme of ‘London’. This theme will be interpreted in a variety of ways by both members of the Institute and artists selected from the open call.
Offering valuable prizes such as The Phyllis Roberts Award (worth £2,000) and The Winsor & Newton Young Artist Awards, the ROI continues to lay the foundations for future generations to enjoy and achieve artistic expression with this most adaptable and durable medium.
The exhibition runs from November 27th – December 8th (10am-5pm daily, closing 1pm on the final day) and more details along with a comprehensive selection of the works online can be found on the Mall Galleries website.
